I Love Thrifting Day in Cary, NC on July 9th

How can you decorate your spaces on a small budget? Thrifting that’s how! And, I’ve got lots of first hand experience.

For years my mom has told me that I have “champagne taste on a beer budget”.  What can I say? I like what I like and I’ve always managed to make my budget work! But, I also like to find unique pieces that I can make my own. And, that’s where ‘thrifting” or “picking” is really fun for me.

I’ve always loved scouring thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets, and I’ve scored many “treasures”. Call it the thrill of the hunt, but I’ve brought home some great furniture, lamps, artwork, accessories, light fixtures, clothes, household goods and soo much more. And, since I love to makeover items, many of my finds have been given a second life such as these chairs  and table:

Or this fireplace mantel:

And, from all the publicity that upcycling and thrifting is getting these days in blogs and  magazines, it seems that I’m in good company. I’m glad to know that thrifting is now “in vogue” as a lifestyle and that it’s no longer just about saving money, but also about finding great items that need a new home or new purpose.

Looks like you’ve got a great group going on in Cary. I hope you ladies have an awesome time! I love Dorcus thrift shop so I’m a little jealous you’re going :) If I hear of anyone in the Cary area looking for a group I’ll let them know about yours.

Thanks Courtney! I’ll be sure to pass on the Raleigh info too. It looks like your group is visiting some great places. I’ve never been to Antiques to Zippers or Revival Antiques. I’ll have to check them out. I wanted to add the Habitat Reuse Store to the schedule, but it’s a bit too far north to go and fit in other stops & lunch. But, I LOVE that place!

Oh, and in case you’re interested… In addition to FB and Twitter, I set up an event invite on Facebook and have had a few replies already. You can invite your friends and make it an open invite for others to see. Just another way to “spread the news”.

Happy Thrifting Day!! I look forward to hearing all about your group’s success,

      Stacey
