How can you decorate your spaces on a small budget? Thrifting that’s how! And, I’ve got lots of first hand experience.
For years my mom has told me that I have “champagne taste on a beer budget”. What can I say? I like what I like and I’ve always managed to make my budget work! But, I also like to find unique pieces that I can make my own. And, that’s where ‘thrifting” or “picking” is really fun for me.
I’ve always loved scouring thrift stores, yard sales and flea markets, and I’ve scored many “treasures”. Call it the thrill of the hunt, but I’ve brought home some great furniture, lamps, artwork, accessories, light fixtures, clothes, household goods and soo much more. And, since I love to makeover items, many of my finds have been given a second life such as these chairs and table:
And, from all the publicity that upcycling and thrifting is getting these days in blogs and magazines, it seems that I’m in good company. I’m glad to know that thrifting is now “in vogue” as a lifestyle and that it’s no longer just about saving money, but also about finding great items that need a new home or new purpose.
